Project De Jour

I started painting last night and just finished this amazing Halloween book! (If I do say so myself.)

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this book. (I tried to convince Jim that he loved it too but the most I could get was that he loved that I loved it. He says he has never loved a book. What???) I used a spiderweb mask and spray ink for some of the pages and glazes and acrylic on the rest. I loved the orange eyelash trimming that I sewed in and the black raven feathers! I bought a 12 x 12 laser cut design at the scrapbook store that I cut in half to stretch the entire length of the front and back cover because I knew the spine had to be blackish so that I could show off the orange waxed lined that was left over from my projects at the last Kelly weekend.

While I am itching to work in this book I must catch up on A Prompt A Day first! I am determined to be caught up by this time next week! Get ready to see crazy amounts of art journaling!

I love break!

Break started officially at 11:15 yesterday. I love a vacation from work as much as the next guy but I always forget how great it feels to know you are off for a whole week!

I did make Ayesha hang out at work with me yesterday until 12:00 so that I could tie up a few loose ends so that I could take as little as possible home with me for break! After lunch out, a pedicure, a little clothing shopping, and a little vacation planning I was feeling like a million bucks by the time Jim got home from work.

Early this morning I headed to my mom's house with my sewing machine and made this amazing post office bag! My mom helped attach the handles when it got tricky. :) Don't you love teh self inflicted shot?

When my mom headed to Frenzy to teach her class today I headed to Ayesha's. After a quick brunch at Baiz Market we headed over to Halo. My nose ring has been making me crazy for months. I seriously thought I was allergic to it but as it turns out not so. They thought it was just bent in a way that my nose didn't like so I got a new titanium ring that we could try a new a new design with. Who knew nose piercing was such a science?

We went next door to Francis and Smeeks and I found lots of great treasures! If you live in AZ and have not visited these stores add it to your to do list! They are both super cute and you never know what you'll find!

Quilt Square For Jamie

Here's a little quilt square I made for Jamie! She is making a quilt and asked several of her friends to each make one square.

The text says, " The important thing about Jamie is that she is strong. It is true that she is a good mom, a loving wife, and a great friend, but the important thing about Jamie is that she is strong."

My quote is patterned after The Important book by Margaret Wise Brown. I love writing Important poems for people!

Show And Tell

So here's what I made this weekend!

On Friday night we took a journal to work in and worked on art journaling ideas. I took my ledger book I made with Kelly on her last visit. I also took every painting or collaging opportunity to work in this book. I plan to use it when I get caught up on my prompts from A Prompt A Day.

Next, I made this cool green book on Saturday day. I love the color of the outside but love the inside covers too!

Saturday night was this cute smaller journal.

Today was this cool journal! Check out the spine!

I had so much fun this weekend bookbinding, journaling, shopping, and visiting! Kelly will be back at Frenzy the first weekend in February! Save a date to take a class now! If you are looking for amazing Halloween art supplies go to Frenzy now!

I should also mention that Kelly brought us Sprinkles on Saturday! I was able to pass up the cupcake but couldn't pass up the frosting. Look how cute they wrapped the frosting shot! It was a great weekend!

I Heart Art!

Soooooo the end of the art conference last weekend was great! I learned to needle felt, to created these great paper bas relief sculptures, and got a tiny taste of etching to print too.

I still need to play around with my projects to finish them up but I spent lots of time this week trying to get caught up from arting all weekend and getting ready to art this weekend too!

Kelly Kilmer's here! (I love Kelly weekends!) Ayesha joined me for a fun class, Prompted, last night where we created pages inside our art journals. Today I will be taking Bloom and Devotional and tomorrow the Kawaii book is up! If you are anywhere near Scottsdale AZ you should come join us!

I will post pictures of my projects from class tomorrow!
