Today

Okay, no inchies today. It just didn't happen (so far anyway). I did make my letter C ATCs though. C is for chipboard. I wanted these ATCs to really look grungy like chipboard but I added color to the different chipboard pieces because I was going for a more finished look. I wanted to make C ATCs celebrate chipboard because it is rarely seen but serves an important role as the skeleton of many projects.

You may have picked up on the fact that I watched several hours of the Project Runway marathon today from that description/justification I just gave. It wasn't intentional but as I reread the description I found it a little funny.

Today I also: (A play by play)
* Shredded all of my documents from 2006 (I keep them for two year just in case)
* Filed all of my documents from 2008 (Finally)
* Weeded out my old/out of style clothes from my closet
* Went to Target to preview the school supply section
• Went to Borders to look at Paperchase and Kluts books (bought nothing although I was drooling over a skull note pad but just bought one with monsters a few days ago and I clearly don't NEED two)
* Went to the 99 cent store looking for plastic containers (bought nothing)
Now brace yourself...
• Went to pick up lunch at Paradise Bakery- I get to the check out the lady says, "Would you like to buy a cookie and get 3 free?" I gasp. Seeing my weakness she says, "We've never had a deal this good before." I say, "I get one for free right." She says, "Yes, just one." I quickly say, "No thank you I don't need them." She says, "You don't have anyone you can give them to?" I think not without eating them first and just say no. She says, "Well I'm proud of you." I felt proud too. It did make me wonder if I had a Weight Watchers logo blinking on my forehead but it did make a good story at my meeting tonight. :)

Tomorrow I am going to Frenzy Stamper with Deb to take a class called Button-PaLooZa with Rosie. It sounds like a fun time. If you are free from 10:30-12:30 you should come play too!

Cool Metal Twinchies

Speaking of metal inchies...
Want to see some cool metal twinchies? (2"x2") Look at Karen Moe's blog here! Karen's twinchies make me think my pennies will be my free choice inchies. Her blog is very inspiring!

Metal inchies?

I didn't get to my inchies until just now and they are still drying. So, rather than the lovely black backdrop as usual you get my messy workspace. I think these will be my metal inchies but they could be my free choice as well. I just had to make some with pennies. I couldn't get the idea out of my head.

I would show you an updated picture of the magazine stack but it no longer exists! The final count was 151 magazines. I couldn't believe it! When I got to the bottom I discovered that the magazine box was not only bowed from the weight of the magazines but missing a handle as well. I decided to toss it for two reasons 1) If I don't have a magazine box I wont save 151 magazines to process all at one time, 2) It's one less thing in the studio to attract dog fur. :) The only magazines that I did not rip wer my Artful Blogging magazines. I look at these more like workbooks. I flag all the sites I want to visit and until I have visited them all I just have to keep them. The good news is that they have a place on a bookshelf and are now nice an tidy. I also cleaned out the dog's room today. We had accumulated tons of random boxes. I retrieved all the owners manuels and important parts and recycled the rest. I sure hope Jim can move the now full recycle bin. :)

Orange Inchies & The Magazine Update

Today was orange inchie day! I was feeling unsure of what I would do for my orange inchies until I was inspired by ripping pages from an October issue of Sommerset Studio. I knew I had this gorgeous scrap of orange swirled paper and it all came together with some orange scrapbook nails that I acquired in the recent donations! (I'm just hoping my donating friend is not kicking herself each time I show how I used something I gleaned from her in an inchie project. Really, I think just getting something new and free provides tons of inspiration and a challenge to put it to use.)

I spent three hours, yes three (although I'm not sure how), hours at school labeling all my books and organizing my new bookshelf. I love having my bookshelves organized. It means all my books have proper homes and none of them live on the floor! (I know this is nerdy for the record.) I also went through another 53 magazines! Here's the progress...

I know no one reading this blog is thinking, "Ooh, I hope their is a picture of Jeane's magazine stack." when they come to my page but somehow sharing it with you makes me happy. Ayesha left a comment on the last post that she likes seeing the REI bag in the picture (It's her bag). I like it too because it gives you something to judge the size of the stack against. 103 magazines in the recycle bin and still I have a few hanging out on top. Wow, who would have guessed?

On second though maybe I should have titles this post Nerd Alert, Nerd Alert! :)

Today's Inchies And Other Adventures

Today I made my pink inchies as soon as I woke up. I wanted to be sure they were done before my lunch date with Buffy and Baby Kakes.

I have also been doing lots of rearranging around the house. I got a bookshelf at school so that I could move all of my teacher art books to school. I was in desperate need of shelf space for my personal art books. I have boxes of books ready to be moved tomorrow morning and all of my personal art books have a new home off the floor. I also cleaned out a file drawer full of teacher art stuff to go to school. This will give me space to rearrange my home files so that I can actually put things in and take things out of these drawers. Talk about exciting! I joke with my friends that I spend half my life moving things back and fourth between home and school.

Full of energy with this much reorganizing completed I decided to start working on my magazine pile. I have been wanting to rip out the things I want and get rid of the rest since spring break. It looked like a big job but whoa!

50, yes, 50 magazines in and I barley made a dent. I went though every single magazine page and got all of the good stuff out. It does motivate me to get more done. I'll keep you posted.

Home And Back At It

We got home safetly today picked up the dogs from my dad's house and I was back to making art!

I made my self a deal to make at least one set of inchies each day until I have all of my sets done. They are not all due until the beginning of August but I have tons of other little projects that I want to work on before school starts again as well. (The beginning of the year always sneaks up on me.) Today I made the blue inchies. When I found these little blue clothes pins in my recent donations I knew I had to use them. Luckily, today I received an envelope of ATC's that had a few pieces of paper as a little surprise and one of them was blue and flocked and it begged to be on the blue inchies as well.

The best part was that I found these tiny 5/8 x 7/8 in labels at staples and now I can print stickers to go on the backs of my inchies. While it took a while to figure out the formatting, it is saving a ton of time on labeling. (The labels are so tiny I couldn't get my camera to focus on them so please bare with the blur.)

Still Alive And Kickin'

Jim and I are still having fun on our Laughlin adventure. I went to the outlet mall across the street this morning and found a few cute tops while Jim was playing in a poker tournament. Loosing $ at the mall is always more fun than loosing it at the tables and we weren't sure how are luck was going to head when we started out this morning. The tables were a little vicious yesterday but today was better.

Tonight is the big Rockets Over The River fireworks show but we decided to rest a bit before all of that excitement started.
