Finally!

This morning I finally hung the artwork that I framed in December in my library. (For Christmas I cleaned out the "dog's room" and made it a nice place for me and the dogs not just a crazy storage area. :)

I did not do it before because I was having a hard time attaching the picture hangers to the backs of the frames with numb fingers and then just kept putting it off. Today I was determined to get the hangers on the backs! As it turned out one of the frames was made of super hard wood the others all were easy to nail or screw into. Just looking at them all frames makes me happy. :)

The best part of all of these artworks is that they all have a story. The center picture I bought from Claudine Hellmuth at Art Unraveled probably the first year I went. The two larger pieces on the left and right of Claudine's were bought in New York from a street artist a couple of years ago when I went with my mom. The two smaller ones are from Kelly Kilmer. One of them is the origional cover from a Chunky book swap we were in together and the other one is an altered photograph she made for me in November. (Am I lucky or what?) Finally, I bought the yellow one from Jamie. You can visit her new etsy store to see more of her art.

I also worked on my art Journal this morning, ran lots of errands, and went clothes shopping. No luck on the clothes. Why is shopping for art supplies so much easier?

Adventuring

Happy Birthday Jim!

Last might Jim and I went to My cousin Lindsay's Hawaiian wedding. It was at a fun place called Hukilau. It's a cute all-in-one wedding place in Mesa. After the wedding the family who owns the place served great Hawaiian food and even put on a show. It really was like being at a luau in Hawaii.

Jim's in charge of the adgenda today for his birthday. First up this morning... goofing. Yeah! I got myself caught up on journal pages! I love Kelly's A Prompt A Day!

Jim got caught up on ebay, on line poker, and email. :) Next stop lunch at a Hawaiian BBQ Restraunt that he can't stop thinking about after last night. :) Now were back to goofing... go figure.

Back At It This Morning

I made four more journal pages this morning. :) I wanted to be sure I had time for journaling so I did it before I did anything else aside from making Jim and I an omelet in my GT Express 101. (I love buying things from infomercials!)

I only have 12 more pages in my current journal until I will have it filled. I can't believe it went that fast this time!

I will be going to my cousins wedding this afternoon and I have other type sof goofing I want to get to today as well. :)

MUST DO ART!

I finished Reading Artful Blogging Feb/Mar/April and Belle Armoire Jewelery Winter 2009 this week. (Now I'm ready to add new magazines to my to read pile.) I have a gigantic list of must see blogs! I share any that I find worthy-HA!

I left work today feeling like I had to make art for myself! I actually made a to do list at work today it said, "art journal, spray paint, jewelery, wish ring". I told you I HAD TO DO ART! Four journal pages in I feel much better. :)

Off to work on some jewelery...It's too dark and windy for spray paint. :)

AIMS Testing

Their is no art this week at my school because the kids are taking AIMS, the AZ achievement test. So what does an art teacher do??? At my school all of the special area teachers have been assigned to a "regular" classroom to help proctor the test. 80%+ of the kids at my school are learning English as their second language so if they ask us to clarify directions on a section or need us to read them a question in math or science only we are able to give them that accommodation. The afternoons are very busy lots of walking around and answering lots of questions. In the morning while they are working on the reading portion I have been doing a little art "research" and getting caught up on my reading! So far I have read...

I have also started the current edition of Artful Blogging & have created a huge list of websites to look at sometime soon. I am looking forward to teaching. :) It makes me feel more productive.

I have also been getting ready for the big art show! I am in charge of coordinating it for my district this year so between working on my panel I have been contacting the mall, making letters for principals, putting together art awards, and making sure chairs are ordered. :) It's a busy time.

ABC ATCs

Today's swapping day for Q, R, S, T, and U. Q is for quinacradone. R is for Rub ons. S is for stencil. T is for tape. U is for Ultra thick embossing enamel.

While I was working on U I remembered why I don't like using embossing powder. :) It's like I'm walking on sand in my studio.

I have a new found fondness for dog racing. Jim took me for the fist time a couple weeks ago and I asked him to take me again last night. We had the best time. We started with dinner at Pappadeaux, (we never go there so it was extra fun) and then headed to the dog track. I love reading the program and trying to decide which dog will win, I love hearing the little horn and then watching the dogs parade out, and I love cheering for the dogs who are falling behind too. It's also great people watching and nothing is more exciting than when everyone runs forward when it's a close race. It's probably a good thing that I don't like to loose money or I could have a problem. :)
